Spearmint Plant:

Mentha spicata 'Spearmint' is a wonderfully easy to grow garden herb that has a fresh spearmint fragrance and flavor. Use Spearmint for culinary, medicinal or cosmetic uses. Leafy spikes of the Spearmint plant display purple-hued flowers in the summer. Excellent dried or fresh. Spearmint will readily make itself at home in full sun to partial shade in moist soil. Most gardeners don't have any trouble growing it, but it can get away from you if you are not careful. We recommend growing all mints in a contained area or planting them in a large pot in the ground. All mints perform best when they are harvested or cut back at regular intervals. Remove old woody plants to allow newer, younger plants to fill in. At the end of the growing season cut Spearmint plants back to ground level.
